Over the years there have been many micro trends; they all come onto the scene quickly and seemingly, are gone just as fast. But one trend has lived rent free in my mind since I first came across it in 2023 – the catsuit.
This trend first came to my attention when a slew of models and celebrities decided to wear them as outfits. Literally. They just put on panties, catsuits, and heels, and left their houses.
That look is far too brazen for myself, but did lead me to think, “They might be onto something here!”
What is a Catsuit?
Firstly, what is a catsuit? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines catsuit as: “a close-fitting one-piece garment that covers the torso and the legs and sometimes the arms.” Similar to a body stocking, it’s a full body piece of clothing, usually lace or mesh, like fishnet stockings but for your entire body!
The catsuit I own is unlabeled, made up of two pieces (a bodysuit and a set of leggings), and is covered in rhinestones!

How I’ve Styled My Catsuit
My initial idea was that these mesh body stockings would be a perfect base layer beneath almost anything! I started doing some research and came across this article on Refinery29, where the author – Frances Solá-Santiago – tries on three different style catsuits and styles them in three separate ways.
Solá-Santiago’s three looks were super adorable, but I was most interested in how she styled her’s beneath the dress. This is how I envisioned wearing the catsuit originally, but have since styled them in several ways!
To date, I have styled my catsuit in four different looks:
Sexy Suiting
For New Year’s Eve 2024, I styled the catsuit beneath a men’s suit jacket, adding a pair of thigh high peep toe boots, a crossbody bag, and pearl earrings!

Grunge-Glam Casual
For a more casual take, I layered the catsuit beneath a pleather mini skirt and oversized jersey, paired with a pair of rhinestone booties from JustFab.

Preppy Chic
I recently shared my process for styling this preppy-chic look, available on the We Aim To Slay YouTube channel!

A Night In Paradise
And finally, something most closely resembling my initial idea, as shared in last week’s Valentine’s Day post!

Where to Find a Catsuit
Whether you’re wearing something oversized or something micro-mini, having a base layer that covers your entire body can be both reassuring and very chic!
One of the first pieces I looked into was this Calzedonia “Mesh Full Body Tights”, which I found through one of my favorite Intagram Stylists, Sarah Zerafa! I found it to be a cute and cool option that features a mock neck, full leg, and full arm, but unfortunately it is currently out of stock.
On the pricier side, LaQuan Smith offers a gorgeous collection of catsuits – both in the sheer, lacey style I’ve been talking about, and other materials like suede and velvet!
For mid-range pricing, I’d take a look at Fleur Du Mal, again, they offer both the lacey variety as well as options to wear as stand alone pieces! Also in this price range, but featuring attention-grabbing details, I’ve found several variations from one of my favorite alternative companies, Dollz Kill, featuring seam details, snake detailing (you know I have to order this one!), and a flared leg!
If you’re like me and you’d prefer to test run this trend in a more affordable way, there are many options on Amazon, and you can find them linked in my LinkTree Shop!
