It’s been two years since I cut off my chemically-processed locks and embraced the #BlackGirlMagic of having natural hair!
In that time, I’ve been searching for a product that would eliminate frizz, moisturize my hair, form and hold my curls – all while allowing for volume, movement, and air-drying.
A tall order, right? I thought so too, until my mom showed me my second favorite thing to ever come out of Canada.

L.U.S., which stands for ‘Love Ur Self,’
This product is considered Step 3 in a line of total hair care. It has a consistency almost like a gel – its a bit tacky – but it’s more ‘watery,’ and it works like a cream product.
I prefer to use it as my final product, once I’ve conditioned, detangled, and applied a leave-in conditioner.
Currently, I’ve been pairing L.U.S. with the Hair Food moisture shampoo infused with honey and apricot, the Not Your Mothers Naturals repair and protect conditioner with royal honey and Kalahari Desert melon, the Garnier Fructis damage repairing treat one-minute mask plus papaya extract, the DevaCurl B’Leave-In Miracle Curl Plumper for texture and volume, and the DevaCurl Arc Angel Gel maximum hold/no-crunch styler for definition and control.
I use a mixture of two application processes: “prayer hands,” in which you apply product to your hands and slide the palms down a section of hair without disturbing the curls; and “raking,” in which you rake the product through the curls. I find that it allows me to smooth my curls into place, while also ensuring that the product is evenly distributed throughout all of my hair (this helps to keep frizz minimal).

The result is nearly flawless curls, and the confidence that comes with embracing your natural self :).
