Oh my goodness! It’s 2017! I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years! If you follow our Instagram, @WeAimToSlay, or my personal Instagram, @RealTGallagher, you’ll know that I’m currently on vacation with my grandparents in West Palm Beach, Florida. You’ll also notice that I’ve been posting quite a few Kardashian/Jenner-like videos of what I’ve been wearing. I promise there is a full post about my vacation coming soon!
But back to the topic at hand; 2017. This year holds a lot of exciting moments, some we’re prepared for and some that will reveal themselves in time. I hope everyone is ready to take on this year and serve a s**t ton of SLAY! Speaking of, here’s how I got ready to give a little New Year’s Eve SLAY 😉

Like always, I started with a clean and moisturized face. But! I switched it up with the hair routine…

Some of you may know that I’m in the process of transitioning to completely natural hair. In order to promote healthy growth, I try not to use heat styling tools (i.e., hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons, etc.). But, I wanted my hair curled for dinner. So what’s a girl to do? Thanks to Cheyenne, one of my best friends, I tried Bantu Knots for the first time! Essentially, Bantu knots are tiny buns that you wrap in the direction you want the hair to curl. It’s as easy as it sounds, too! I let my hair sit like this for about three hours, and let me just tell you, the results were INSANE!!!
Next, I applied my primer, foundation, concealer, contour, and (for the first time) I ‘baked‘ my concealer.

Time for the eyes and brows! All of which I achieved using the CoverGirl TruNaked Nudes palette! I also used the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil to fill in the the wider, inside edge of my brows.

Because I wore a red dress, I wanted a matte red lip. I first lined my lips with the Smashbox Always Sharp Lip Liner in Crimson and then went over that with my FAVORITE red lip product, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella.
To finish off my face, I set with the NARS translucent setting powder and then used a M.A.C loose eyeshadow in Nude as a highlighter.
Now it was the moment of truth, to take out the Bantu knots! Unfortunately, I don’t have great photos of this moment, but here’s what I do have…

The curls came out amazing! I didn’t even have to use hair spray to set them!! These fantastic curls were paired with this equally enchanting red plaid dress from Zara and black suede booties from Charming Charlie’s. And no, there’s no shame in my bathroom selfie game!

Thank you to everyone who has been reading these blog posts! I hope we can continue our journey together in 2017 and for many years to come! Good luck this year my loves, and remember to SLAY!
