Festival season is well underway, with the first weekend of Coachella having just passed and the second coming at the end of this week! And while I won’t be in California this weekend, I have been thinking about what I’d wear if I was!
Before we get into the looks – including glam, hair, and outfits! – I have to say that while my original goal was to create ten looks (as mentioned in the “Interstellar” tutorial), I’m a firm believer in quality over quantity. Instead I’ve created five easy to recreate looks, designed with music festival lodging in mind!
Interstellar Chic
If you’ve visited We Aim To Slay before, you’ll know that blue is one of my favorite colors – and, it was recently named one of the most popular colors of the season! Similarly, star motifs have been popping up in recent makeup trends.

I let the glam take center stage, opting for an off-white denim look (a vest by Sincerely Jules, and a skirt by VAV New York), a high-neck bralette, rhinestone booties, and a seashell purse from T.J. Maxx!

You can watch the full tutorial now! It’s live on YouTube and linked below – all products used are in the description!
For The Alt Baddies
Most people hear the phrase “music festival” and immediately picture flower crowns and glitter. But for those of us you prefer Maynard James Keenan over Taylor Swift, you can expect an edgier look!
This look is aligned with my personal aesthetic, and incredibly easy to create – simply start with a smokey eye and add a red winged liner!

Once the makeup was completed (the tutorial & products will be live on YouTube this Friday!) I created a set of bubble braids and added the CurlSmith temporary hair dye in the shade red. For the outfit, I used the makeup’s color palette; layering maroon lace tights under black fishnets, a sheer bodysuit, a maroon velvet bralette, and a black velvet skirt.

BoHo Goddess
On the opposite end of the aesthetic spectrum, this bronzy bohemian look is perfect for anyone who just wants to look naturally glowy and effortlessly chic!

And much like the makeup, this outfit is perfect for long days out in the sun!

Opposites Attract
Maybe you liked the BoHo Goddess look, but it was still a bit too natural for you — so let’s some conflicting colors, like orange and blue!

To coordinate with this elevated Goddess-style glam I selected a maxi dress that echoed the colors of the makeup – blue and orange. I finished off the look with a heaping of glitter, and lots of bejeweled hair clips!

Sunset in the Desert
Taking a cue for the summery weather, this sunset-inspired look will steal the show even after the sun goes down!

And with makeup this intricate, I like to keep my hair, outfit and accessories minimal. Echoing the orange of the makeup, I left my hair down and added an orange headband. These blue shorts (found over a decade ago at Urban Outfitters) were the perfect way to disrupt all of the orange while remaining cohesive.
