Welcome back to We AimTo Slay! I hope you all had a restorative holiday season; I know I feel better after taking a much needed break to rest and recalibrate, and now I’m ready to take on 2026!

Typically, I like to plan my “new year resolutions” during the weeks leading up to New Years, preparing myself to dive into the next year with a clear outline. But this year things were off, and I felt as if I finished out the year with a fizzle rather than a bang.
Closing Out 2025
The last few years have been tumultuous at best – between 2021 and 2025, I won two national pageant titles, one that I ended up stepping down from; I gained and lost nearly 60 lbs; met, married, and separated from my now estranged-husband, which intertwined with moving out of my family’s house and in with my then-husband, before moving back in with my family; and after a series of odd-jobs that resulted in a position of nearly four years at a high school, I accepted a new position in a new field back in November.
And amidst all of these personal challenges, We Aim To Slay was prospering and developing into the brand I always knew it could be. I was blessed to attend several fashion shows, landed four brand deals, launched the YouTube channel, and more. But as my personal life continued on like a roller coaster, I felt as if I had less and less creative motivation.
In moments like those I know it’s time to rest, recalibrate, and make serious adjustments. Sometimes that involves taking a step back from my hobbies and creative pursuits, which unfortunately, includes W.A.T.S. But as with a favorite book or movie, I can never stay away from this space for long – it is through my art that I feel the most grounded and like myself.
Fittingly, as I grow into this new version of myself, (having turned 30 and made a major career change) We Aim To Slay is also entering a new era – she’s turning 10 years old this September! After the successes of 2025, the only place left to go is up!
2025 Accomplishments
The successes I’m most proud of include: officially launching the YouTube Channel and gaining my first 60+ followers; meeting my travel goal of taking a trip once a quarter; filming almost a year’s worth of #SelfCareSeries episodes; and, landing deals with four major brands: Love Ur Curls, Olive & June, Aora Mexico, and House of Lashes!

My Goals for 2026!
For this year, it was hard to decide where my focus needed to be as I’ve been feeling very scattered.
My number one goal is We Aim To Slay – I want to build on the momentum of 2025 by strengthening the connections I’ve made throughout the fashion and beauty industries, and continuing to push the boundaries of my creativity! In a more tangible sense, I need to improve my time management skills in order to put that creativity to good use. And in a similar vein, I want to position We Aim To Slay as my full time career. I’m not entirely sure what the timeline will be for that, but I’d like to lay the groundwork during this year.
Creatively, I’m ready to take my makeup looks to the next level by incorporating more than just makeup – like false lashes, body paint, and other odds and ends that can help add dimension to the characters I’m creating! In a similar vein, I want to continue growing the YouTube channel through efforts like investing in really good equipment so I can properly document my creations.

Another creative pursuit, I love the idea behind the #SelfCareSeries – examining the balance between giving back to your community and taking care of yourself – but it started as something exclusive to my pageant life and I think there’s a way to pivot it into an everyday, self care podcast. Step one will be to convert the existing episodes into an audio format, and step two will be to advertise the podcast to the public!

And finally, I want to position myself to have my own home by sometime next year. Similar to my other goals for this year, the best course of action is to be disciplined and to remember my vision of the end result.
The We Aim To Slay 10th Anniversary!
As we get closer to the We Aim To Slay anniversary on Sept. 16th, I’ll be creating and sharing special content to celebrate the past decade, as well as projects and content to prepare for the next ten years!

What Do You Think?
As we continue into another year, I want to thank all of you for continuing to support me and We Aim To Slay! We’ll be celebrating 10 years of W.A.T.S., this upcoming September, and I hope you’ll join us for the next 10 years!
I’ll be back next week to revisit the red maxi dress I bought last year, with an updated look!
Have a great rest of your week, and remember to SLAY!
