Introducing: Aora Makeup!

This year has been filled with successes for We Aim To Slay, and I’m grateful to be announcing our newest brand partnership – with Mexico City-based makeup brand, Aora Makeup!

Who Is Aora?

I first learned about Aora Makeup this summer, and while I’m always interested in new products, what really caught my eye was they fact that this brand is creating products that are 100% recyclable – “We’re redefining luxury with timeless products designed to endure, using materials that last, not waste,” according to their website.

And they mean it, crafting products housed within packaging that is “crafted from noble, durable materials,” and are “100% recyclable, plastic-free, and designed to be reused, repurposed, and treasured.”

Not only are they taking a new approach to the development of their products, Aora hopes to redefine beauty standards. Even the brand’s name (a take on the Spanish word “ahora” which means “now”) harkens their desire to help launch the industry into the future.

On the website the Aora team explained that the name “embodies a deep desire for change—an urgent call for something new, from somewhere else.” And, that it’s time for a fresh perspective: “to feel beauty in new packaging, to hear untold voices in makeup, to see creativity like never before, and to truly sense the power of color.”

Vibrant colors are a part of traditional Mexican culture, and Aora has found a way to marry the vivid shades of the past with the eternal desire to protect and preserve the natural world. According to their website, “In a world of muted luxury and fleeting trends, color is often confined to the young, the special, the extraordinary. But we believe color belongs in the everyday. AORA celebrates the richness, sophistication, and vibrant spirit of Mexican culture and the CDMX [Ciudad de México] community.”

And there is no shortage of color in these products! But Aora was careful to craft products that were safe for our skin while delivering luxury: “We create skin-safe vibrant pigments with pro-artistry standards…Free from toxins like talc, PEGs, and phthalates. We use skin-friendly ingredients like ethically-sourced Mica, Silica, and Magnesium Myristate. Our formulas are ophthalmologist & dermatologist-tested and never tested on animals.”

The Products

I was lucky to be sent three products, and they did not disappoint!

Admírame Eyeliner

This dynamic eyeliner is described as “high-impact color that glides on effortlessly,” due to its creamy and alcohol-free formula. This product is available in five shades – Rojo.01, Azul.02, Durazno.01, Cafe.01, and Vanta.03.

As I’ve been playing around with my everyday makeup routine, I have been experimenting with more colors through eyeshadows and eyeliner so it was an obvious choice to select the shade Rojo.01.

Not only does this liner allow you to create subtle and striking eye looks – stay tuned for my Demon Slayer inspired look on the YouTube Channel! – but it also serves as the perfect brick-red shade of lipliner! I’ve been enjoying it layered beneath the solid lip serum!

Acaríciame Solid Lip Serum

This lip serum provides intense hydration and an “irresistible, gloss-like shine”, perfect to keep in your purse as an everyday lip treatment, and to layer on top of your favorite lip product for a flashy finish! Acaríciame is available in six shades: Rosa.02, Rosa.03, Rosa.04, Dorado.02, Vino.01, and Vanta.02!

Earlier in the year I shared my journey for the perfect lipstick dupe, and when selecting lip products I have to consider the natural berry tone of my lips. Keeping that in mind, I selected the darkest shade, Vanta.02.

Since opening this package I’ve been bringing it with me everywhere! It’s perfect as a lip balm on makeup-free work days, and it also layers perfectly on top of a lipstain for long nights of dancing!

Mírame Eyeshadow Palette

The Mírame palette includes nine shades in various finishes from matte to metallic, all of which are incredibly blendable! I’ve loved playing around with all of these colors, it’s really pushed me outside of my makeup comfort zone!

As I explained above, one of my favorite things about Aora is their focus on eliminating plastics and Mírame is the perfect example! This gold, trapezoid shaped palette is made of metal, and the pan that the shadows sit in is removable – so when you finish with the makeup you can keep the container as a little treasure chest or clutch!

My Thoughts!

I think it’s pretty clear – I’m a huge fan of Aora Makeup! I’ve taken to keeping the Admírame Eyeliner and the Acaríciame Solid Lip Serum in my purse for quick touch-ups, and I frequently reach for the Mírame Eyeshadow Palette whenever I want to add a pop of color to my look!

Since receiving my products I’ve created several looks: one that is officially live on the YouTube channel (and includes my unboxing & reaction!), and a tutorial that will be going live on Friday – marking the start of my Halloween Makeup Tutorial series! Make sure to keep an eye on the We Aim To Slay YouTube Channel to see all of these captivating looks!
