Recently I shared my process for trimming my hair at home, including some of my favorite products to help rejuvenate my hair! If you’ve read any of my hair-focused articles, you may remember hearing of the brand Love Ur Curls – a curly-hair focused brand based out of Canada!

The Products
As a proud #CurlyGirl, I’ll admit that from time to time, I get the itch to switch things up! Rather than inflict a permanent change on myself such as a drastic cut or change in color, I pull out my trusted flat iron and wear my hair straight for a week or two. Ordinarily I try to limit my hair straightening to twice a year, but this year I’ve gone back and forth nearly every month!
Earlier in the year my Love Ur Curls rep contacted me to say…she had been following my video and written reviews of the products and had some product-use suggestions, ultimately offering to send me an additional two new products: the Exfoliating Scalp Scrub and the Irish Sea Moss Gel.

Exfoliating Scalp Scrub
I’ll be honest, I’ve only started paying attention to my scalp in the last few years. I started with the scalp massager to help stimulate blood flow and cell turnover, before learning about products made specifically for the scalp. I liked the products I had tried but it wasn’t until testing this L.U.C product that I incorporated scalp scrubbing into my hair routine.
Why might you care about exfoliating your scalp? Similar to exfoliating your face or body, doing so for your scalp: removes dead skin cells, product buildup, and other debris that can clog hair follicles; help regulate oil production; and stimulate blood circulation to the scalp, which provides nutrients and oxygen to hair follicles, promoting hair growth. There are also health benefits such as reducing irritation caused by dandruff, psoriasis, or other scalp conditions.
Enter the Love Ur Curls Exfoliating Scalp Scrub!

Formulated with ingredients like shea butter, peppermint oil, volcanic ash, and blue vervain, this product is designed to be used before shampooing, to really target build-up on the scalp. “With its easy-to-use built-in applicator, you can effortlessly apply it directly to your scalp, no mess or stress involved ,” according to their website.
I’m sad to say that there’s only enough for one more wash left in my bottle – that’s how good it is! Whether I was going back and forth between curls and straight hair, withstanding a tropical heatwave in the middle of a forest, or treating my hair after a photoshoot, this is a product I reach for again and again!
Irish Sea Moss Gel
#CurlyGirls, cheerleaders, and performers of all arts are familiar with hair gel. Whether you’re locking in an intricate style, slicking back your hair, or finishing your wash-and-go, gel can be the perfect tool – but not all gels are created equal.
Love Ur Curls’ Irish Sea Moss Gel is described as a “curl-activating styling gel that repairs damage, and hydrates hair while providing a touchable, long-lasting, flexible hold.” It includes ingredients such as Irish Sea Moss – a natural humectant containing vitamins and minerals such as zinc, iron, and iodine that has been used in traditional medicines for centuries – aloe vera, and oils extracted from superfoods like passion fruit, acai, and rice.

I would describe it as medium hold, helping to craft perfect curls that never feel weighed down!
I like to layer my products in my hair, finishing with gel to help seal my hydrating and conditioning products into my hair. But let’s be real, sometimes we only have enough time to quickly rinse and go, and I’ve had just as much luck layering several products as I’ve had with combining the Love Ur Curls All-In-One Styler with the Irish Sea Moss Gel and calling it a day!
