It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is my 30th birthday – like, where have the decades gone?! I’ll be having a quiet evening with my loved ones, but this past weekend Stacey & I made sure to celebrate – first we traveled to Hartford to take advantage of the Social House selfie museum, before heading to Mohegan Sun!
We first experienced a selfie museum in Orlando, Florida, during my reign as the 2022 Ms American Coed – essentially, it’s a warehouse-style space that is broken up into cubicles, with each cubicle designed with a different theme or style in mind.
Background
A bit of research found that Social House boasted “15+ themed spaces”, as well as offering events such as sip-n-paint classes, and a fully operational bar.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find many examples of the backdrops (there were two prominently featured in their Instagram tagged photos: the red Rock n’ Roll room, and the classroom set), so my initial instinct was plan five outfits with each focused on one color – white, black, red, blue, and yellow. But in true Taylor-fashion, I waited until the day-of to pack my shoot bag but it ended up working out in my favor!
Cream Halter Dress
I bought this dress back in April during the last W.A.T.S., brand trip! It’s by the brand VAV New York, and it was so damn cute I bought it in two colors!

Black Halter Dress
I can’t decide which version of this dress I like better – black or cream!

Rock ‘n Roll
I’ve had this outfit – a DKNY pleather tank top (from Plato’s Closet) and these red satin trousers (from T.J. Maxx) – hanging in my closet, and now I can’t wait to wear it out!

Boxer Babe
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this backdrop, but Stacey styled this look – the red satin trousers and a white latex top that I found at the Plato’s Closet in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida! I finished off the look with my go-to black strappy heels and space buns.

Back To School
Truly, I’ll wear this blazer anywhere! I found it earlier this year at the Vintage Market Days CT event, in the Wild Heart Boutique! Here I’ve paired it with the white latex top, a mini skirt from Zara, and the Franco Sarto boots!

Various Backdrops
As awesome as Social House is, the biggest issue that we faced was that many of the backdrops were crammed in together – at no point were you able to capture the full backdrop without also getting the backdrops on either side.

Mohegan Sun Trip!
Again, I had an outfit planned for my birthday look: in my head I was wearing the exact look from the throne backdrop. But, with the Social House photo shoot bag still packed and in my car, I rummaged through my luggage to switch things up!
I ended up pairing a rhinestone and black velvet mini skirt with the white latex top and the snake print booties I found at Plato’s Closet, finishing off the look with a pair of pink Abella Eyewear sunglasses and the cutest little wicker bag shaped like a seashell that I found at T.J. Maxx!
Unfortunately I didn’t get any close up shots of this dramatic eye look, but I used the Morphe palette to create a teal and silver cut crease!

What Do You Think?
As I’m entering my 30’s I’m reevaluating my priorities and making time for the things and people that mean the most to me. I’m excited to use this next chapter to rediscover who I am and to fully come into my own!
Thank you all for supporting me over the years, and for spending the last 9 years with We Aim To Slay!
I’ll be back next week to discuss some of my favorite (and new to me!) hair products from Love Ur Curls!
Have a great rest of your week, and remember to SLAY!
