We Aim To Slay

Earlier this year, I saw a video where a woman revealed an uncomfortable truth – “Ladies, do yourself a favor and stop wearing those ugly rubber watch straps – they’re literally destroying your outfits.” And I have to admit, she was right! 

Whenever I want to look “fancy” or dress up for a night out, I often leave my smartwatch at home because the strap does take away from my overall look. Leave it to the Internet to anticipate my wants before I even realize I want them; I soon started seeing ads for a company called My Pretty Strap.

The Brand

According to their website, My Pretty Strap was started by three friends whose goal was to “create beautiful Apple Watch and FitBit accessories that will elevate the look of your smartwatch.”

They go on to explain their style as “a sophisticated blend of timeless elegance, minimalist design, and a dash of luxury…with vintage vibes and a modern luxurious twist, we provide straps that you can style everyday – with any outfit, for any occasion.

What I Ordered

After looking through their inventory I made three selections; two watchbands, one that I envisioned wearing daily (the Glam Leather Strap – $44.99) and one for formal occasions (the Women Luxury Apple Watch Strap – $34.99), and a matching watch cover (the XOXO Apple Watch Cover – $17.99) all in a gold finish. 

In about two weeks, my items arrived and it was time to unbox them!  

My Initial Thoughts

As predicted, I have worn the leather strap exclusively since opening them! It fits perfectly, and effortlessly matches everything in my wardrobe! The gold strap is a tad too big, and I have yet to adjust it – even though the adjustment tool was included in the package!

And yes, the girl in the video is right – it makes a huge difference! It honestly looks like a proper watch or a bracelet as opposed to the typical “this is my smart watch” aesthetic. I’ve worn the leather strap to the gym since purchasing, and it hasn’t been impacted by the sweat thus far!

The watch cover snapped into place super quickly – and that ultimately was it’s demise!

Back in January I was filming content at the gym and by the time I got home, I realized that I had lost the cover! I immediately reached out to My Pretty Strap via Instagram to ask if there was another cover that was more secure than the one I had selected.

They responded quickly, suggesting the Glossy XOXO Apple Watch Cover ($17.99) style. They also offered me a 50% discount as well as a discount code for free shipping! 

About two weeks later my new cover arrived, and I have to say, this one is much more secure! It actually clips onto your watch, securing around the entire outside edge with openings for the button and crown. 

I’ve now been wearing the My Pretty Strap items for several weeks, and they make a world of difference! Two separate people have stopped me to say they really like my watch, only to be shocked and delighted to learn that it is in fact a smartwatch!

These items have made such a difference in the overall appearance of wearing a watch, that I’ll never go back to those rubber bands! (With the exception, of course, being when I go surfing!)

How I Styled Them!

As I’ve said, I’ve worn the leather strap and the watch cover everyday since they arrived, and they’ve acted as the perfect compliment for every outfit! 

At this point I have yet to wear the gold, “Women Luxury” band because I still need to adjust the size, but I know it will look just as fabulous as this one!
