Holiday Glam – Wrapped in a Ribbon!

In the immortal words of Bob Ross, around here, we appreciate “happy little accidents,” which is exactly how this holiday ribbon look came about! Originally intended as a simple cut crease, I’ve crafted the perfect look for all of your holiday gatherings, which I’ve named “Wrapped In A Ribbon”!

Products I Used

I’ve been using a mix of new and my tried-and-true products lately when crafting my base makeup, but I’m still using a lot of the same techniques that I shared in this blog post, crafting my base makeup.

Some of my all time favorite products include: Clinique Even Better Makeup in shade “WN 94 Deep Neutral (M)”; Sailor Moon x ColourPop blush in shade “Cat’s Eye”; Anastasia Beverly Hills brow duo in shade “Ebony”; Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in “Black”; Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in shade “27S Light-Medium Sand”, and Park Ave Princess Bronzer; and NYX Cosmetic Vivid Rich Mechanical Pencil in “Black”.

The new products I’m using include: e.l.f Cosmetics Makeup Mist & Set setting spray, Velvet Finish Face Primer, Brow Laminating Gel, Big Mood waterproof mascara in “Black”; City Color Cosmetics in a cranberry shade; Manna Kadar Beauty eyeshadow in a champagne shade; Aora Mexico Mirame Eyeshadow Palette; House of Lashes in the “Femme Fatale”style; Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 in shade “Very Berry”; and M.A.C. Cosmetics lipgloss in shade “Lost Invite”.

The Technique

After crafting my base makeup, I’ll begin to create my eye look!

I’m grabbing a tapered brush and immediately applying the cranberry shade directly into and slightly above my crease, making sure to bring the line outward at a slightly inclined angle. At this point it doesn’t matter how messy you are on the eyelid, because we’re going to use concealer to clean up the lines!

Start by swiping concealer on the back of the hand. Using a flat packing brush “carve out” your crease by applying all over the eyelid, creating a crip line just beneath your crease. You’ll want to bring the concealer out as far as your crease shadow line as well. Next, set the concealer with a translucent setting powder to prevent movement. Then, go back over this set area with the shimmer shade using the same brush we’ve used for the previous two steps.

Originally, I used the Manna Kadar Beauty shadow which was really pretty, but I felt it was a tad too subtle for what I was going for so I went back in with the gold shimmer shade from the Aora Mexico Mirame Eyeshadow palette.

Like I said above, I didn’t start this process with the intention of creating a ribbon-inspired look, so at this point I just used a flat angled brush to create winged liner using the cranberry eyeshadow. I also brought this line out to run parallel to the original cranberry shadow line, leaving a good amount of space for the glitter shade between them. I connected this line to the overall look by using the same shadow as the liner along my lower lash line.

To finish the eye I tightlined using the NYX Cosmetic Vivid Rich Mechanical Pencil in “Black” and applied a coat of the e.l.f. Cosmetics Big Mood waterproof mascara in “Black”, before applying the House of Lashes in the “Femme Fatale”style. Then I added a bit more mascara!

This is when I went back in and added the ribbon lines! Using the same flat angled brush and cranberry eyeshadow, I created the “Wrapped In A Ribbon” effect by connecting the original lines via a small “v shape”, as if cutting the ends of a ribbon on a wrapped gift!

And I finished the look by lining my lips with Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 in shade “Very Berry” and filling them in with M.A.C. Cosmetics lipgloss in shade “Lost Invite” for extra sparkle!

The Finished Look!

I love how this look came out! It’s definitely one I’ll be recreating throughout the holiday season, and I’m excited to try different color combinations! And, you can watch my exact process on the We Aim To Slay YouTube Channel right now!
