It’s my favorite time of year – Spooky Season! All throughout the month I’ve been crafting looks to share, including a video tutorial for each makeup look! As of today, the first two looks are live on the We Aim To Slay YouTube channel, and the last video will go live on Friday!

Glam Grunge Pirate
I crafted this Glam Grunge Pirate look using the Aora Mexico Mirame palette, utilizing the purple, blue, white, and black shades. After crafting my base makeup I used the purple, white, and blue shades to create a halo eye.
Because I originally created this look to attend the Renaissance Faire with one of my work friends – and it was a rainy night – I decided strategic layering would be the best option. Much to my own dismay, I used the Lavish Ivy dress as my base layer, which I dressed up with the black tutu skirt I bought at Renee’s Resale Clothing Outlet, a corset my mom let me borrow, and a frilly white, tie-front top!
For my hair (which was straight at the time) I used the Kitsch heatless curler to create effortless waves, which I then topped with a white and green satin scarf – tune into that video to watch me struggle with a new technique for wrapping a bandana LOL!
I wanted my visible accessories to be eye-catching, and opted for this giant statement necklace of rhinestone-covered skulls and crosses. Because I was going to be outside I picked a flat pair of black motorcycle boots and a pair of black kneehigh socks. And I finished off the look with the most adorable seashell shaped wicker bag that I found at T.J. Maxx!

The Sound Hashira: Tengen Uzui
Last month I learned just how effective Aora Mexico makeup truly is, when I spent two and a half hours crying during the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie. As an anime lover, I had to cosplay my favorite character – The Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui!
I used the Aora Admirame eyeliner to draw Tengen’s Demon Slayer mark, and used the matte red shade in the Mirame palette to fill in the design.
Tengen’s Hashira uniform is a black tank top and black pants, so I took a flashier approach, opting for this long-skirt-and-tank-vest combo piece that I found at Market Street Creatives in Torrington paired with the black and pink Sorell boots I got at T.J. Maxx. Even though Tengen has a jewel encrusted headband, I toned it down a notch by wearing rhinestone hoop earrings and a red headband.
And in case you were curious – yes, that movie was amazing and I cannot wait for the next two installments!

Oz’s Dazzling Duo!
And for a special treat, I’m rounding out Halloween 2025 with a double header – tutorials for both Elphaba and Glinda, in honor of the upcoming release of Wicked: For Good!
For both of these looks I started by blowing out and flat ironing my hair, a process (including products!) that I’ve linked here from the W.A.T.S., YouTube channel!

Glamorous Glinda
To craft Glinda’s whimsical and coquette-inspired look, I knew I wanted to wear something big and poofy. Originally I intended to wear one of my former pageant gowns until remembering that we had sold it years ago. With that in mind, I reached for the poofiest gown I own – my wedding dress by Berta Bridal! Unfortunately, my gown wasn’t pink; however, it does have layers of blush and sparkly tulle which I thought would help convey the same aesthetic.
With that in mind, I decided to incorporate Glinda’s signature color with a pink eyeshadow look! After crafting my standard base makeup I used my Morphe Artistry HotSpot 35H palette to make a pink and orange lid look, echoing the tones of the beautiful sunrise!
I finished off Glinda’s iconic look with a crown and sceptre that I had won in two separate pageants. But my vision really came together once I got on location for this photo shoot – sunrise at Fairfield Hills!

Effervescent Elphaba
When the first Wicked movie came out last year, my mom and I dressed in character for our showing. I was apprehensive to paint myself green, so I compromised by using a green eyeshadow to contour my face. This year, I went full out, using face paint Global Colours Bodyart face and body paint and Paradise Makeup AQ to paint my upper body green!
Overall, I think these photos – captured as sunset at Burr Pond – came out so cool, but I don’t think I did my best work on Elphaba’s eye makeup. Partially due to the fact that I didn’t paint my eye area green (I’m not sure why I didn’t do that…), and partially because the Wicked Witch of the West doesn’t really wear makeup. I ended up doing a gold lid and a smoked out crease line, opting for a pair of House of Lashes’ “Femme Fatale” lashes!
Sartorially, I once again reached for the infamous Lavish Ivy dress and a pair of black, high heeled motorcycle boots from ShoeDazzle. I finished off the look with a witches hat and a few accessories, like a broom and an old book!
