If you’re anything like me, you wait until the last minute to pick a Halloween costume – even though it’s your favorite holiday. But have no fear! This week I’ll be walking you through several ways to create the perfect last-second costume!
Some of the Looks I’ve Created Last Year
Last year I created several looks that you could wear all day long, as Halloween also fell on a weekday then. You can read that post, Halloween Inspired Looks That Can Be Worn I.R.L!, here, to see how I created each of the following looks!

Looks Focused on Makeup
Morticia Addams

To create Morticia’s iconic and timeless look, I needed to create a flawless base – one that even a vampire would be envious of – to do so I started with the Sephora brand primer, color corrected under my eyes and around my nose with the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD concealer in shade orange corrector, and concealed that using the Tarte Shape Tape in shade light-medium sand. I crafted her gothic visage using a sample of the Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer in shade Swan, and set all of this with the Sephora brand setting powder.
Because Morticia’s look centers on cool toned gray shades, I used the shade Sio from the ColourPop Of Quartz palette as my contour. After completing my brows – using the Milani Brow Wax and the NYX Satin Finish black pencil – I used the Of Quartz and Morphe 35H Hot Spot Artistry palettes to create my eye look.
To create this eye look I started by laying down strips of medical tape beneath my eyes; this will give us crips edges for our eyeshadow! I applied a base of the L.A. Girl Dream Glitter Iridescent Liquid Eyeshadow in shade Aura, before laying down a layer of Sio. Then, using a similar technique to my pageant makeup, I used the ColourPop Of Quartz palette in shades Opaque and Rock On to create this dramatic smokey eye. I went back in with the Morphe 35H Hot Spot Artistry palette silver shade for my lid highlight. To finish off the look I created a winged liner using the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black, before applying the Lancome mascara primer and the Loreal Voluminous Original mascara.
In order to produce the perfect pout, I lined my lips with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in shade Cruella and filled them in with the L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in shade Rouge St. Germain.

Clown

Similarly to Morticia, the crux of this look would be crafting a truly clown-like base to build upon. After priming, color correcting, and concealing (all the same products as the Morticia look), I used the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Foundation in shade 2. Even though this shade is clearly not a match, I really enjoyed working with this foundation! The application was smooth and even though it’s advertised as being medium coverage, I found that the coverage was very full!
Now we move on to crafting the actual clown makeup! I originally made this look last year, so I decided I would go for the same color combo and try to update the look! I outlined my major shapes (the eyes and mouth) using the NYX Slim Eye Pencil in shade Purple before going back over it with the dark purple shade from The Zulu by Juvia’s palette. I eventually outlined the lips with an eyeshadow – the Barbie x ColourPop Malibu Barbie palette shade Best Coast. With my outlines in place, I began filling in the eye area using the same shade of purple eyeshadow, leaving the center of the eyelid clear.
I started this eye look by laying down a base of the LA girl liquid shadow on the center of eyes, went over that with Malibu shade Follow The Sun, and applied a set of Ardell 174 lashes with Duo brand stiplash adhesive in Dark Tone. And, to finish off the eye I applied L’Oreal Voluminous mascara to adhere lashes to fake lashes. The real standout of this look are the rhinestones I applied around the eyes! These are attached using the same lash glue and six large “Recollections Bling Stickers” rhinestones around the purple eye shape.
I finished off this look with the lips, by adding a bit of the Malibu shade Follow The Sun, and went over that with a bit of Jovani brand gloss in shade Blush.

Mermaid

I crafted this mermaid look by starting with my standard makeup base. With my base makeup in place, I immediately went into adding the scales by putting a pair of my fishnet tights over my head and pulling them down onto my neck. This gave me an intense bout of claustrophobia and in the future, I will be purchasing a new set of fishnets that I can cut into pieces! For the scales on my neck I opted for two shadows in The Zulu by Juvia’s palette, the shimmer shades of blue and green. To add the scales along my hairline and jaw, I used The Violets by Juvia’s and the darkest purple and the lightest shimmer shade.
Moving into the eyes, I brushed my brows with the Benefit Fluff Up Brow Wax and filled them in with the NYX Slim Eye Pencil. Now we’re going to lay down some concealer on our eyelids, and a little below the outer corner, and set with setting powder. Using the same three shades of The Juvia’s eyeshadows, we’re going to create an ombre effect by applying the green shade to the inner third, the blue shade to the central third, and the purple to the outer third of the eye as well as bringing that shade down to the area where we would apply highlighter.
Next we’ll be applying our accent products – the Sailor Moon x ColourPop Glitterally Obsessed Glitter Gel in shade Moon Prism Power (over the eyeshadow, cheekbones, and neck scales), and the pearl accents, using the same technique (and brand) as the rhinestones in the clown look. Then I finished off the look by lining my lips with the Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 in shade Very Berry and the Jovani gloss in shade Blush.

Looks Focused on the Outfits
X-Men’s Storm

This year I’m paying homage to one of my all time favorite actresses, Halle Berry, and dressing as Marvel’s Storm, an incredible superhero with African roots!
I paired the suit with my white, quilted, Guess brand booties, a pair of gold earrings I borrowed from my grandmother, and this adorable icy blonde wig. I had to feather in the bangs a bit in order to shape them to my face, and I should have taken photos of that process, but maybe I’ll get another little wig to share how I accomplish that process!
For makeup, I knew I wanted to create an intense halo eye look. To create a halo shaped eye look, you’re going to want to focus your shadow shades along the crease and brow bone area while leaving the majority of the lid bare. You want to wrap the crease shades in on the outer and inner corners of the eye, but leave as much space clear in the center as possible.
I started with the ColourPop Of Quartz palette, using two of the gray shades before moving into the Morphe 35H Hot Spot Artistry palette to use another gray shade. Then I moved back to the Of Quartz for the black shade, and deepened that with a black shade from the Morphe palette.
Once you’ve built up your shadow shades, you’ll want a small, flat packing brush to apply concealer on the lid which you’ll set with translucent setting powder. Now, you can use a super bright and sparkly shadow shade, but I chose to use the L.A. Girl Dream Glitter Liquid eyeshadow I’ve been using to create my sparkly winged liner looks. Bring these shadows down along the lower lash line and finish off with mascara. For lips, I used the ColourPop Star Wars lipstick in shade Supreme Leader.

Princess Diaries
A few weeks ago I was once again reunited with my Dazzle Boutique family to style some princess-inspired looks and I had so much fun recreating this iconic scene from The Princess Diaries! I created my standard pageant makeup look – you can read all about that process and those products here!

For my take on Mia’s school uniform I left my hair down and wild and selected a powder blue and floral print knit cardigan by the brand “Pol”, a pair of wide leg blue plaid trousers by the brand “Fore”, and a simple white tank top from the brand “CS”. All of these items are from the Dazzle Boutique inventory!

Once I transformed into the Princess of Genovia, I pulled my hair back into a big bun, added my rhinestoned Temu sunglasses, and finished off the look with my I.A.W.P. crown! Nothing could complete this look quite like the iconic ballgown – and the Dazzle team helped me select this beautiful Ellie Wilde Mon Cheri gown!

Disney Princesses at Dazzle Boutique!
I couldn’t resist the opportunity to try the “prom, pageant and wedding dresses inspired by characters” trend – and I think the Dazzle team picked some winning gowns! For my deconstructed Disney Princesses looks, I selected gowns inspired by Tiana, Moana, and Cinderella!

For all three princesses I created my go-to pageant makeup look, and tried my best to match my hair to their iconic looks!
This green velvet with beaded fringe was my Tiana-inspired look! Created by Rachel Allan, this gown features a partially detached top which flows into a beautiful mermaid fit with a mild train. To complete the look I created Tiana’s signature bun, and added a pair of AB rhinestone earrings, a gift from my I.A.W.P. family!

As soon as beloved Dazzle employee, Emily, pulled this burnt orange, Portia + Scarlett off the rack I knew I would be channeling Moana! This gown is also velvet – one of my favorite fabrics ever! – and features sequins that reflect hues of gold! I left my hair down and full, choosing to forego earrings and let the gown speak for itself!

And to finish out my rotation, Emily helped me find this beautiful ballgown that has pockets, inspired by one of the most iconic princesses of all time – Cinderella! This Colette by Daphne Mon Cheri gown is the perfect shade of powder blue, and features silver floral embroidery that really sparkles as it catches the light! I pulled my hair back into a low bun and left some tendrils loose, opting for the same rhinestone earrings as my Tiana look. (I would be remiss if I didn’t try to recreate the lost shoe scene!)

After posting the TikTok video of these looks, many people commented that they wanted more Princesses, so I went back to Dazzle to create looks inspired by Rapunzel, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Merida, and Belle! You can watch part two and part three here!
