Last week I detailed my newest makeup products and how I used them to create various looks. It was difficult, but I resisted showcasing all of the possible ways to wear green eye makeup in order to share them this week – in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day this weekend!
Colorful makeup can be intimidating at first, but easing yourself into it for everyday life is easier than you think! Over the years I’ve acquired several green products including the Profusion Cosmetics Emerald palette that I purchased from Walmart, The Zulu by Juvia’s palette, the Melt Makeup Bad Side Zodiac Earth palette, the Makeup Revolution Forever Chilled palette, and the NYX Slide on, Glide on, Stay on, and Definitely a Turn On Waterproof Eyeliner in the shade Esmeralda (they’re no longer making this formulation, but here is the most similar version!).
Makeup for Work, School or Daytime Gatherings
It may seem counterintuitive to wear vibrant makeup during the day, but these subtle looks add a bit of fun to your work or school routine!
Light Green Highlighter Eye

This look is one of my go-to ways to wear colorful makeup for everyday life! Last week’s post contained two highlighter eyes – in blue and pink! To create these looks I create my full base (minus color corrector), used the Sailor Moon x ColourPop “Shining Moon” shade as my base shade, and used the shades “Fern” and “Harlequin” to create my highlighter eye. First I used “Fern,” laying a green base to go back over with “Harlequin,” to add a bit of sparkle, and finished off with winged eyeliner. I like to use the Stila Stay All Day liquid liner.
Green Bottom Liner

This is also a super easy way to incorporate colorful makeup into your everyday life. After starting with a simple base (primer, concealer in my T-Zone, a bit of contour, and blush) I did a simple winged liner using the Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner. To add in a bit of color, I used the NYX eyeliner to line both the water line and lash line. I finished the look by filling in my brows and adding mascara.
Monochromatic Green Shadow

This is a fun way to be a little more dramatic or glamorous but still daytime appropriate. I used a blending brush to apply my eyeshadow, “Galaxy” from the Profusion palette. I used an angled brush to apply a small amount of the same shade at my lower lash line, used the shade “Gilded” in the inner corner, and finished with some mascara! The shade “Galaxy” gives the same cool effect of shot silk, a fabric that is made of two different colors of silk, giving a sort of iridescent or pearlescent effect. The colors in this eyeshadow are a purple-green-brown sort of hue, but the effect looks really beautiful with brown eyes!
Makeup for a Formal Event or Nighttime Gathering
These dramatic looks can elevate even your most simple LBD (little black dress) and take your look to the next level!
Martini Makeup

Similar to creating a classic, “movie star” style makeup, you’re going to want to start with your lightest shades and build into your dark shades. I didn’t realize until I had finished the makeup that I had already done a photo shoot (two years ago, to be exact) with this same exact trend. So yeah, I like this makeup look, and if you’re looking for an easy entrance into doing colorful makeup, I’d highly recommend working with these green and gold hues which look so nice on so many skin tones!
Green Smokey Eye

I’m obsessed with how this came out!! First, start with a full base (minus color corrector) and then using a black pencil liner I lined the shape that I want my smokey eye to take. Then I began blending out the liner using the Revolution palette shade “Mist”. This shade has some really pretty glitter to it, so I went back over the line with the Zodiac palette shade “Heart of Stone” to deepen the hue. Then I used the Revolution shade “Candyland” as my lid shade. Eventually used the Revolution shade “Calm” to add a highlighter. The more blending I did, the more I thought my under eye makeup was moving too low, so I used a bit of concealer to minimize that line a bit. Finish off with mascara, and you’ve got this really beautiful cat-eye shaped, green smokey eye!
Green Cut Crease

I test ran this look to celebrate two of my sister’s birthdays this past weekend. I used the Sailor Moon “Shining Moon” as my base color, going from lashes to brow, and a combo of the Zulu turquoise shade and their glittery green shade. After laying down the base shadow, I went in with the Zulu turquoise to fill in my crease then, using a brush, went over the center of my eyelid with concealer. I went over the concealer with the Zulu green shade, but noticed that it was a tad lighter than I was going for, so I went back over that with a similar shade, the Profusion “Harlequin,” and used their shade “Meadow” to line my bottom lash line. And finished the look by tight-lining the top and bottom waterline with a black pencil liner, and added a base of primer beneath my mascara.
What Do You Think?
What are some of your favorite makeup colors to work with? I’ve been partial to blue shades for years, but I love how these green tones have made my brown eyes pop! Let me know in the comments if there are colors you like to work with, or if there are colors you’d like me to test run for you!
I’ll be back next week to share and review all of the pieces that Hubby has gifted me from Temu! Have a great rest of your week, and remember to SLAY!
