Halloween Inspired Looks That Can Be Worn I.R.L.!

Halloween has long been my favorite holiday, and this year, I wanted to do something special to celebrate! 2023 also had a Friday the 13th this October – with all of these spooky season vibes in the air I knew I had to create a few Halloween themed looks! And even though Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, I’ll show you how to bring a little extra spookiness to your everyday life!

Classic Halloween Colors

Nothing says Halloween like the iconic color duo of black and orange! To channel the holiday in a subtle way, I styled this SheIn Double Breasted Vest with a black T-shirt and black jeans that I wore cuffed. I finished off this look with the perfect Autumnal shoe – a pointed toe, sling back with the tiniest heel – I call them my “peasant shoes”, but please let me know if theres a proper name for this style of shoe!

Accessories consisted of my go-to rhineestone snake belt from SheIn, and a pair of hoop earrings that feature dangling bats! Because I was wearing an interesting earring, I decided to keep my hair simple and wrap my curls into a large bun.

And, because I was wearing this look to work I also kept my makeup simple, choosing to pair a small winged liner with a purpley-red lip, courtesy of one of my all time favorite lipsticks that is sadly no longer made – the Urban Decay Sheer Shimmer Lipstick in shade Seismic.

Modern Witch

There’s something about head-to-toe black that just screams “Don’t mess with me” – the perfect look for a badass witch! I paired a black handkerchief skirt with my trusted Forever 21 mock neck bodysuit and knee high socks. I continued the all black theme with a pair of booties that I got from Plato’s Closet, and topped the look off with this Hot Topic moon phase cardigan.

I wanted all aspects of this makeup look to stand out so I created a brown and plum shadow look that I paired with a combo of winged liner and a “fox eye” look – a trick of adding a “mini wing” to the inner corner of the eye, giving you a more elongated gaze.

I paired this eye with a deep purple lip, created using the Barbie X ColourPop Lippie Pencil in shade DreamHouse, the Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Vixen, and the Sailor Moon X ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip in shade Moon Tiara.

“The Craft” Movie

The Craft is one of my all time favorite witchy movies! I recreated the main characters’ iconic school uniform by pairing this pleather Zara skirt with a plain white tank top (from Walmart), and one of my work wardrobe staples – a sheer white button down from Venus.

To finish off the outfit I wore a pair of black sheer tights, my black suede booties from Plato’s Closet, and my moon phase cardigan from Hot Topic.

I kept my accessories to a minimum, wearing only a pair of hoop earrings. I left my curls loose, and created a clean winged liner eye in order to offset the deep purple lip. This lip was created using the same products as the above look, and I have to say, I’m becoming increasingly obsessed with dark lips! If you’re also a dark lip lover please leave your product recommendations in the comment section below!

Spider Eye Makeup

A simple makeup look, for those of us who want to rep our spooky pride in a subtle way.

I created the spider using mascara, but in hindsight I should have used an eyeliner to draw the spider – it would have created much cleaner lines, but, I kind of liked the texture that the mascara added. I finished off the spider by using the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof LiQuid Liner in shade Intense Black to create the legs and fill in some gaps in the body area.

I used two different white eyeliners to draw the web; the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in shade Yeyo & the NYX Eye Pencil in shade White. To create a crisper line I went back over those the web with a shimmery white shadow from the Pony Effect That Girl Fever Shadow Palette.

For the lip I used a sample of the Dior LipGlow in shade 001 Pink. I decided to pull my hair back into a pillowy bun and let my earrings do the talking! These spider earrings were a gift from Hubby that he ordered from Temu – and I’ll be reviewing all of Hubby’s Temu gifts in an upcoming post!

Lucifer’s Little Helper

The starting place for this look was a pair red sparkly pitchfork earrings – one of Hubby’s Temu gifts! To create this devilish look I paired the earrings with a red lip and a red maxi dress from Zara. I’ve had this dress forever – it’s actually the dress I’m wearing in my first ever W.A.T.S. post!

To add a bit more shape to the dress I added my rhinestone snake belt from SheIn, and carried on the “hints of black” theme with my Steve Madden platform sandals, and a cashmere cardigan.

I originally had my hair down to add a bit of wildness to this look, but my curls kept tangling in the earrings (LOL!) so I pulled it back into a low bun which really made the earrings stand out!

I don’t know about anyone else but I love to wear a bright red lip whenever I wear anything red. My go-to red lip is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in shade “Cruella,” and this time I topped it with the Sailor Moon X ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip in shade “Moon Tiara.”

Got Milk?

You know how sometimes things just come together perfectly, and yet totally by accident? That’s what happened with this look.

It’s completely by accident that I even own cow print clothing. I ordered this cow print mini dress as a joke after hearing Doja Cat’s song “Moo,” and almost a year later I ordered the headband as part of cow themed costume. Both the dress and the costume are from SheIn.

To carry on the theme, I was actually in the process of shooting a different look when I remembered that I had these pieces and knew that I had to add this look to the post! I paired the cow print items with my black platform sandals to simulate hooves.

For makeup I’m wearing a simple base and winged liner combo, and my newest lip obsession – the Clinique Almost Lipstick in shade Black Honey. This lipstick is a slightly less purple version of the Urban Decay lipstick I mentioned above; I’ve been wearing it for a few days now and I really like how it feels on my lips!

Barbie Girl

I’d be remiss if I didn’t create my own take on the summer’s smash hit – the Barbie movie! And unlike my actual Barbie movie look, this time I decided to embrace the pink of it all! (I wore red to see the movie, like the glamorous holiday Barbies!)

Not too long ago I saw an Instagram Reel where a woman created what she called an “empty liner” look – I immediately wanted to try it, and ended up really looking the look! I decided to recreate my initial attempt in pink shades for this look. I’ll be doing an in depth post on how to create this look soon, but essentially, instead of applying eyeliner you’re “erasing” the area where your liner would normally be applied. For my lips I’m wearing the sample of the Dior LipGlow in shade 001 Pink.

I paired my pink-heavy makeup with a velvet mini dress in a dusty rose hue, and matched that with a pair of sparkly gold stilettos – the ones I wore to see the Barbie movie this summer! I added a pair of pearl hoops and big fluffy curls.

Jack Skellington

Arguably my favorite look from this series, I recreated one of my favorite Halloween characters – Jack Skellington. In college, I owned the perfect pair of white-and-black stripped, satin pants, which I wore for that rendition of this costume; but, in order to add a level of wearability I decided to break out my white linen trousers. I paired them with my trusted Forever 21 mock neck bodysuit and a black blazer.

Accessories included my go-to black suede booties from Charming Charlie (which has sadly been out of business since 2019), the Jack Skellington bowtie choker from Hot Topic (which appears to no longer be available), and a pair of silver skull earrings.

For my makeup I decided to do a modified skeleton look by creating a sparkly, black smokey eye, and the same purple lip as above – because once I love something I simply cannot get enough.

My Halloween Costume

That’s it for now my loves, but I’ll be back next week to share all about the pumpkin party Hubby and I are hosting this weekend! And before we know it, it’ll be Halloween! Any guesses on what I’ll be dressing up as this year? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, and what you’ll be dressing up as too!
