Think Pink?!

Think Pink?!

The other morning I was laying in bed and scrolling through Snapchat, when I saw a supermodel with a pink face mask. And then I read the caption; Pepto-Bismol… Umm, what? But apparently it’s not as crazy as it sounds! (Let me clarify, it does sound crazy but I was curious enough to do research.) After a little digging, I found out that this idea has been around for quite some time, like this article from x0Jane that was published in 2011. But, it wasn’t until Thursday, when I read this article from Bustle (circa 2014) that I decided to give it a try.

The general consensus is that you shouldn’t leave this on your face for more than 20-30 minutes because of discomfort caused by tightness, like an Elmer glue based peel off DIY, but I probably left it on for about an hour while I watched a bit of television. Once I washed it off, using a wash cloth, my pores were noticeably smaller and my skin felt soft, but those were the only real changes I saw.

But, on Friday, the light bulb clicked on; why not use the Pepto as a base for a charcoal mask?! And so, I did just that!

Face mask selfies call for silly faces, am I right?

This may just be DIY face mask gold; the Pepto, like glue, mixed well enough with the charcoal to keep it from flaking, unlike when I tried mixing it with water. And, the clean up process that much easier because this mask should be applied with a brush. Unlike using glue, the Pepto won’t rip out your eyebrow hairs if it happens to drip!

Again, I left it on for as long as I could stand (about forty minutes) and once I washed it off I saw that the charcoal had pulled impurities from deep within my pores up to the surface while the Pepto worked to minimize the massive pores on my cheeks. All in all, I’d say this was a success!

If you have tried any inventive and uncanny DIY masks, let me know! I’d love to give them a try 🙂 have a fantastic week, and remember to SLAY!
