Night Out Makeup

For the last weekend of the Fall semester, two of my best friends and I decided to go out; it was the last weekend of the semester, surely there had to be at least one party! And, when I say party I am NOT referring to what you see in all of those movies. I mean a place indoors, where it’s warm, there’s good music and we can dance for a couple of hours before we go home and get straight into our beds! And, because I hate to wear makeup on a daily basis, I like to use my weekend excursions as a time to practice using makeup and to feel a little glam. Who knows why, but there’s something about putting on a little bit of makeup that makes me feel like a princess. I don’t think there is a single girl in the world that doesn’t like feeling like a princess every once in a while. So, without any further ado, let’s get started on my go-to, night out, makeup look!

My go-to makeup
  1. I started by washing my face, moisturizing, and then prepping with Nyx Angel Veil primer.
  2. Fill in brows, using the CoverGirl TruNaked Nudes eyeshadow palette, color Sable and the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencil in Dark Brown (usually I start with my base, i.e., foundation, but I was trying a new eyeliner trick, I’ll get to it!)
  3. Now, here’s where I tried switching things up! I put a piece of scotch tape from the outside corner of my eye to the outside point of my eyebrows. There are a few reasons people use the tape trick; firstly, because it gives a barrier to make the perfect cat eye! Secondly, this will keep the excess eye shadow from spilling and then affecting the rest of your face. Now, I know that this trick has been around for quite some time, but I’m an old-school kind of gal.
  4. Lately, I’ve really been loving the CoverGirl TruNaked Nudes (805) eye shadow palette. I used the shade Champagne as my base and blender color, Mink to start my transition, Cocoa and Coffee to darken, and then finished the outer corner with Sable. I also used Sable on my lower lash line.
  5. For my cat wing I used the Clinique Pretty Easy liquid eyelining pen in 01Black. Because of the tape, the wing was very easy and came out purfect (see what I did there?) and balanced for each eye as well as a matched set. Now, remove the tape.
  6. Mascara: L’Oreal Hydrofuge Voluminous Carbon Black, which is waterproof and works so well that most pageant girls use it!
  7. Next I used the Maybelline concealer in Fair for under my eyes, which I blended with my beauty blender.
  8. Foundation: my favorite foundation is the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless in Syracuse. I love this for two reasons; I was blessed with very cooperative skin so I don’t need a lot of coverage, and because I’m of mixed heritage, I have a lot of trouble finding a shade that actually matches. But, because it’s been cold and not very sunny, I mixed the Nars with M.A.C Prep + Prime BB cream in Medium Dark. Again, blended with the beauty blender.
  9. For some strange reason, I don’t own a blush so I like to use my bronzer (Iman Cosmetics Sheer Finish Bronzer in Sand) as my contour and to add a little color to my cheeks.
  10. To finish my look, I moved to my lips. I started by lining with CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Smoky and then went over that with Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Ruby. But, that red was way too bright in my opinion. So, I wiped that off and relined with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Smoke (this is a dark grey, and I use this when I just want a bit of eyeliner) and then went over that with the Urban Decay Lipstick in Shame. This shade is a dark berry color, and it’s my go-to lipstick for practically every occasion!

And that’s it, my go-to makeup look! Do you use any of these products? Would you, or have you, tried the tape trick? If so, comment what you think! And, remember to SLAY!!
