Thanksgiving will, forever and always, be one of my favorite holidays. There are so few opportunities to eat until you feel like bursting, and eating is one of my favorite hobbies! Because I knew I would be eating in excess, I wanted to look nice and be comfortable. A not so difficult task that was easy to achieve!
Black leggings are practically a gift from above. While they aren’t appropriate for all holidays, leggings are and should be a Thanksgiving staple! I paired my leggings (which I bought from Target) with this boxy sweater by Romeo and Juliet Couture. There are sequins sewn into the sweater, which makes it a little more festive. Because of the loose weave of the sweater, I wore a brown, lacy bralette (purchased from PacSun) underneath, which helped to keep to the color palette of the season while still being comfortable. I finished off my look with these super fun booties. I bought them a few years ago while on vacation in Mykonos. Like the sweater, these booties are neutral, but, the toe and heel of the boot are covered in clear rhinestones! This makes them fun but understated, aka, appropriate for all occasions!
Now on to the face! I did take a time-lapse video of my hair and makeup process, but because I was waiting for my leggings to come out of the wash, the video is in pieces (LOL! I’m still working on my video skills). I started by washing my face and moisturizing as I normally would. I wanted to keep my makeup simple, because I didn’t want to be rushing off to the bathroom for touch-ups (side note: I still had to rush off to the bathroom for touch-ups). I stuck with a neutral eye and a slight cat wing for liner. My lips I kept as neutral as possible by first lining them with a liner that is about one shade lighter than my natural lip color and then using a brush, I applied a neutral lip gloss on top.
For family holidays, I like to wear my hair straightened and then curled. To achieve these curls, I used a curling iron, but, I wrap the hair around the barrel instead of using the clamp. I didn’t use any product other than the oil I use once I’ve gotten out of the shower. Once all of my hair had been curled, I turned my head upside down and began finger picking the curls. I then proceeded to dance around the house, which loosened the curls and allowed them to fall in a more natural way.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Remember to SLAY, my lovely moonbeams ❤
